Powerful and successful media performances are no accident.
Those who consistently impress with their media performances take a strategic approach and adopt tried and true interview techniques.
Media training sessions conducted by Ron Kandelaars focus on two main objectives: understanding the mindset of the journalist and what they expect from you; and using pivotal techniques which enhance performance in all interviews, whether they are ‘soft’ information-seeking exercises or ‘hard-edged’ confrontational exchanges.
This is a hands-on workshop providing participants with a sound understanding of the media.
The course prepares them for television, press, radio and online interviews and teaches them techniques to get their message across. The emphasis is on participation with participants taking part in several on-camera interviews which are replayed and critiqued. The course interviews focus on real-life case studies relevant to each participant. Participants are trained how to deliver a concise and powerful message with real impact.
The course also increases the participant’s understanding of how the media works and how it can be influenced. Participants are shown examples of good and bad media performances and are briefed on the potential pitfalls of dealing with the media and the many advantages.
The first part of the course focuses on preparation, the honing and refining of a clear message with real impact and ways of managing difficult media issues to the interviewee’s advantage. Special emphasis is given to providing participants with the skills needed to handle those questions they’d least like to be asked. The course also pays particular attention to the print media and establishing a solid and workable relationship with journalists.
The session involves:
